Turn a Floor Lamp into a Pedestal Planter
Old floor lamps are often overlooked in thrift stores, but they can be easily transformed into a stylish pedestal planter. With just a few simple materials, you can create an eye-catching garden accent in under five minutes! I can’t wait to add a few more of these to my patio this year! See the easy tutorial HERE!

What You’ll Need:
- A sturdy secondhand floor lamp
- A wire hanging planter
- Soil and your choice of plants
- Optional: Spray paint for a fresh look
How to Make It:
- Remove the electrical components from the floor lamp, leaving only the base and pole.
- If desired, spray paint the lamp base for a refreshed look and let it dry.
- Secure the wire hanging planter to the top of the lamp using screws, zip ties, or adhesive.
- Fill the planter with soil and your favorite Spring flowers or greenery.
This upcycled planter adds a unique and elevated look to patios, balconies, and gardens. You can even create a set with different lamp bases for a layered effect.
From Outdated Frame to Bold Floral Art
Picture frames are some of the easiest thrift items for the Spring season to repurpose. Instead of using them for old prints, turn them into modern botanical artwork with a bold color and dried flowers! See how I made mine HERE!

What You’ll Need:
- A secondhand picture frame
- Acrylic paint in a bold color
- Pressed flowers or faux florals
- Glue or adhesive spray
- Paintbrush
How to Make It:
- Remove the glass from the frame and paint both the frame and backing in a bold, Spring-inspired color. Let dry completely.
- Arrange your pressed flowers on the backing to create a visually appealing design.
- Use glue or adhesive spray to secure the flowers in place.
- Reassemble the frame and display your custom floral art!
This DIY is a fantastic way to bring a fresh, nature-inspired touch to your home while making use of thrifted materials.
Solar Powered Outdoor Chandelier
I often see metal chandeliers at thrift stores, and instead of adding candles or leaving them unused, I love turning them into solar-powered outdoor light fixtures. This project is perfect for Spring evenings spent outdoors!

What You’ll Need:
- A thrifted metal chandelier or candle holder
- Small solar-powered LED lights
- Heat-resistant glue or zip ties
- Optional: Spray paint for a new look
How to Make It:
- Remove any old glass candle holders or wax residue.
- If desired, spray paint the chandelier for a fresh color update.
- Insert solar-powered lights into the candle slots.
- Secure the lights with heat-resistant glue or zip ties.
- Hang the chandelier in your backyard or patio for an elegant eco-friendly lighting feature.
This DIY project for Spring is perfect for outdoor ambiance, whether you’re hosting gatherings or simply relaxing under the stars.
