A few years ago we made some substantial changes to our first floor powder room by adding new trim, board and batten, and a new vanity sink. Lately, I have been dreaming of a moodier space that feels more cohesive with the rest of my home. While the only true cohesion that is important in any home is that ALL of it makes YOU happy, I really wanted to make some changes – so we are! And when I tell you I’m excited about this transformation…whew!
My inspiration for this space is very similar to recent room makeovers in our home. Moody, cozy and vintage inspired with a hint of glam. This room in particular will have a very English feel with rich warm wood, cottage inspired wallpaper, and charming brass accents. I found so much amazing inspiration on Pinterest. This stunning plum tone, aptly names, Expressive Plum by Sherwin Williams, in the first image below was what set my creative wheels in motion for this space.
What’s wonderful about this transformation is that there won’t be a lot of major labor. In fact, the bulk of the work has already happened in making decisions! There are some small modifications happening to the space such as changing the finishes of the metals in the room and changing the lighting. But without any demo or serious DIYs, this transformation will (hopefully) be easy breezy! First up will be removing the peel and stick wallpaper and making sure all my surfaces are ready to go for paint and new wallpaper! I’ll be revealing the final paint choice next week! Stay tuned!
