My 2022 Christmas Mantle

A gorgeous statement mantle for the holidays doesn’t have to cost a lot of money! I found easy affordable ways to style my new moody black mantle for Christmas including some upcycled and sustainable projects!

If you missed it, I painted our fireplace wall BLACK last week and I’m not going to lie – a big push to do it before Christmas decorating was because I knew how amazing it would look with twinkling lights and all the gold accents of my holiday décor!

I planned on using my gorgeous dark eucalyptus garlands from last year on my mantle, but on a whim I grabbed these beautiful $20 cypress garlands from Walmart. Once I hung 2 of these up I decided to use my eucalyptus elsewhere because I just love how lush and full they look on their own!

Pro Tip – use these command cord bundlers to keep garlands secure on your mantle! I just fluffed up my greenery around them and you can’t even tell that they’re there!

I added fresh dried orange slices that I strung on twine with a large needle. I love the pop of color with the greenery!

I also added these sweet little bells I found on Amazon this year. You can buy bell garlands that are already made, but I liked the idea of choosing my own ribbon to string these up. I simply tied my long ribbon to each bell to prevent them from slide around. Jackson helped me string them and we made it an educational game of which shape in the pattern comes next.

I added my black nutcrackers to the ends of the mantle. I like that they are so subtle with the black on black. They were originally inexpensive wood nutcrackers from Michaels that I spray painted last year. I love that if and when my style changes they can easily be painted again!

Lastly, I added in battery operated fairy lights that work on a timer. I’ve never had a lit garland on the mantle before and these tiny lights look so magical in the evenings! I cannot wait to put up our tree and add to the ambiance!
