You didn’t think I was going to do this basement makeover without a few easy DIYs and furniture transformations did you?! To say it’s been a busy week is an understatement, because I worked on TWO different types of furniture makeovers. And one is pretty unconventional!

DIY End Tables
The end tables we had in the basement were just too modern and boxy for this transformation so I wanted to find something with more of a vintage flair.
My inspiration tables were over $200 a piece so I scoured Facebook Marketplace for pedestal tables to refinish, but found they were still more than I wanted to spend. I did a little digging on Pinterest, as always, and was inspired to make end tables from something unexpected – lamp bases!
You can see the full tutorial for these DIY Pedestal Tables here!
No one would ever know the origin of these tables! Except if they read this blog post, lol! The total cost of this project was $27 for 2 gorgeous end tables that are going to look perfect in our lounge area!
Craft Table Flip
When we upgraded our kitchen table last summer, our small black table moved down to the basement and Jackson uses it as a craft and work space. Having a place to make art, play games, and host poker nights was an important part of this design, but the table was scratched and the legs were heavily chewed, courtesy of Elliott’s puppy days.
Instead of looking for a new table, I sanded this table top down to the raw wood and was pleasantly surprised at the wood tone and quality. If you are looking for easy tips on how to sand and strip a table, you can find them here and here!
I sanded away the chew marks with my orbital sander and gave the base a few coats of the color Pigeon by Farrow and Ball. I used extra paint from our family room bench last year so this table makeover was completely free! It’s going to look absolutely stunning paired with the upholstered swoop arm chairs I was gifted from Woven Byrd and our new washable rug gifted by RugsUSA!
What’s Next
Fingers crossed, our paint and wallpaper supplies arrive soon so we can begin the BIG transformation in the basement! If we have all of our supplies in time, I’m hoping to work on all of that next week before we take a week of vacation.
Thank you so incredibly much to Rugs USA and Woven Byrd for partnering with me on this makeover! You’ll be seeing lots more about their beautiful projects as we start putting the room together toward the end of the challenge!
