I just saw these cute and quirky striped candles at Anthropologie and thought, I could make those! This look for less is super easy and inexpensive. Use any candles you like! Some of the ones I painted are thrifted!
What you need
- Candles
- Painter’s Tape
- Non-toxic paint (I used this acrylic)
- paint brushes
How to make it
Simply tape off your candle to make any size stripes you’d like. Paint each exposed area – you will probably need 2 coats of paint. Once the paint is dry, remove your tape and display your candles!
Tips
- Cut your painter’s tape into skinny strips.
- Don’t apply painter’s tape over a painted portion of the candle – the paint will peel off
- If you have a little bleed through, you can easily scratch off the rough edge with your finger nail or any small sharp object.
- Have fun with your color combinations!
The Anthropologie candles cost $36 for a set of 4 tapers. Because I already had the acrylic paint, I only spent $2 on 4 thrifted tapers! With Valentine’s Day around the corner, these candles would make sweet but chic décor for a table or mantle! If you make your own striped candle’s, make sure to tag me @therurallegend!
