Home Office Design Plans
In the very beginning I knew what color I wanted for this space and that hasn’t changed one bit in the 3 years of making modifications to this room. Dead Salmon by Farrow and Ball is an unfortunate name, but the most stunning neutral blush taupe that transforms in different lights. I chose to COLOR DRENCH the room to give the illusion of a larger, grander space. Not familiar with color drenching? Furniture Flips
The dresser and work table have also remained constant through all of my decision making. The 1980’s dresser was originally part of my parents’ bedroom suit and now holds all of my office and crafting supplies. It’s had several makeovers since I inherited in back in 2011. See her most recent glow up here along with tips on how to paint wood furniture!
My work desk is another inherited labor of love! The top is from a dining table commissions by my husband’s grandfather and the legs are from my grandparents’ original farmhouse table. Swoon! We had never tackled a project like this mash-up of tables. See the full tutorial here!
We also replaced the table top on a $20 Facebook Marketplace Dining Table! It’s one of the most asked about things in our home!
Replacing the Carpet
From day one of moving into our home, I wanted to rip out all of the carpeting. It’s not as easy to keep clean as wood flooring, and I didn’t love the brown color. Last year we finally replaced the carpet in our bedroom which was an instant upgrade!
I wrote up all the details for how to choose the best flooring for your space so you can make the right decision!
Another flooring company recently reached out to collaborate giving me the opportunity to FINALLY replace the flooring in my office! We chose this gorgeous engineered hardwood in wide planks. Talk about an immediately style change! The room feels bigger and much more luxe!
Wall Treatments
I decided to keep the theme going by elevating the look of the walls. Adding this self adhesive wall moulding was incredibly easy and required no DIY experience! This space now belongs in the English countryside with rich warm tones, wall treatments, and custom pleated drapery!
See how we added this wall moulding to our family room!
Finishing Second-Hand Touches
What I love most about this room is the history and character all of my second hand treasures offer. Some of these pieces are inherited from family members like my grandmother’s button tin and sewing machine. While others are pieces I’ve been collecting from thrift stores for years.
The birdcage in the corner of the room was a $6 thrift store find a few years ago. I added a planter pot inside with a string of pearls plant, and hanging on this ornate wall hook, it looks so beautiful!
Many of these finds have been featured in detail on my Instagram Channel!
