At the beginning of every holiday season, I set up a few folding tables in the garage and pull out all of my seasonal décor. I get to see exactly what I have, what I might decide to purge, and what I might like to add that year. To keep my Christmas decorating affordable and sustainable, I try to look for new (old) Christmas and Winter décor at the thrift store first before choosing to buy new! Here are the things on my thrifting list this year!
Taper Candles
I always add extra candles to my shelves and tables for the holidays! The warm glow just feels to elegant and cozy. I especially love to deviate away from white tapers and use deep green and red hues.
Ceramic Decor
Like my thrifted ceramic turkey, I will be looking for some seasonal pieces I can paint and give away as gifts or use in my own home
Pretty glass vessels
I’m planning on making DIY candles next week and will be on the lookout for some faceted glass bowls and candy dishes for these!
Ornaments
While I certainly have enough ornaments to fill multiple trees, I like to pick a theme or vibe each year and add in special ornaments. I like to look for vintage ornaments (swoon!) and clear glass ones that I can upcycle like my textured ornaments from last year and this year’s amber ornaments!
Holiday Dishes
I challenged myself to thrift most of my Thanksgiving Tablescape this year and I’d love to do the same for Christmas whether it be for a brunch table or elegant dinner party. While I probably won’t thrift an entire Christmas dish set, it would be fun to add a pop of color or seasonal print to my classic white dinner plates.
Make sure you’re following on Instagram to see what I find this year for my holiday home! I can’t wait to show you!
