How to Make Framed Jewelry Ornaments
Start by following the steps in my Display Frame Tutorial. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll need and how to do it:
1. Materials: I used thrifted mini frames (I found a set of 8 for just $5!) and spray-painted them gold for a vintage touch. You can source framed jewelry pieces like brooches, vintage pins, or even old costume jewelry from your collection or local thrift stores.
2. Assembly: For a soft backdrop, I repurposed a maroon velvet blouse I found for just $2.50 at a thrift store. The soft velvet fabric complements the shiny brooches beautifully. You can attach the jewelry to the fabric using glue or a sewing technique, as explained in my detailed display frame tutorial.
3. Finishing Touches: After securing the jewelry, I added a velvet ribbon to the back of each frame and tied a bow at the top. The contrast between the maroon velvet backing and the black velvet ribbon creates a rich, elegant look. Hang them on your Christmas tree for an added touch of nostalgia.
