I have had this DIY project on my list for a long time and I finally made it happen! Using thrifted glass bowls and other vessels, I wanted to learn how to make my own beautiful candles! How sweet would a homemade candle be as a Valentine’s gift this year! This easy project literally took 5 minutes other than the 2 hours needed for the wax to cool – it’s that simple!

I found these candle refill kits from Everly – an environmentally conscious candle company that prides itself on being 100% clean. Did you know there are a lot of toxins in not only the fragrances in traditional candles but also in the wax itself?! I just learned paraffin is a byproduct of petroleum and is very harmful! #themoreyouknow !!

Everly’s candle kits come with everything you need to make a candle with a used candle jar or any other flat bottom vessel you have or thrift! What a great way to upcycle, right?! You can even use a vessel that is special to your family as a gift such as Grandma’s antique candy dish. Once the candle is spent, simply remove the wax remnants by placing it into the freezer for a few minutes. The wax will pop right out and Grandma’s candy dish will look like it was never used!

My husband, who is not fond of crafting, loved making these too! Here are some of the vessels I thrifted for this project! Use this link to receive 10% off any of Everly’s product line! Or just used code THERURALLEGEND at checkout!

PS. They also smell amazing!

Forgot to mention, they also offer a fragrance free wax kit so you can add in your own essential oils if desired! Will you be making some beautifully easy candles for gifts? Let me know in the comments!
