Certain home decor pieces can be easily customized for any season or holiday, making it affordable and simple to add special touches to your home without the need to constantly buy something new. One such magical piece is the glass bell cloche, which can be styled in countless ways. Here, I’m sharing three easy ideas to style a cloche for Halloween that will instantly bring spooky vibes to your home! These ideas are so easy, it’s scary—literally!

What is a cloche?
A glass bell cloche was originally used to protect delicate plants and objects. Most cloches are made of clear glass and shaped like a dome. Around Halloween, they can be repurposed to create eerie displays—like a collection of preserved, creepy artifacts. Think of a “severed head in a jar” type of vibe, though we won’t be going that intense here! My ideas are more aligned with a “spooky chic” aesthetic for a hauntingly beautiful home, but feel free to get as gruesome and creepy as you’d like!

Where can I find a Cloche?
The best place to source a cloche is secondhand, whether at yard sales, thrift stores, or flea markets, where you can score great deals. However, if you’re eager to get started and don’t want to wait for the perfect cloche to show up, I’ve put together a collection of beautiful glass cloches under $50. Shop the images below!
1. Hanging Bats
For this spooky scene, you’ll need fishing wire, transparent tape, and some black bats. Using fishing wire, tape the bats inside your cloche at different heights for a little bat colony flying in your living room! For an extra touch, fold the wings of one bat and secure it to the very top of the cloche for a dynamic look. Finish off the base with some Spanish moss for added texture.
2. Glowing Ghost
For this setup, you’ll need my easy DIY clay ghosts. The most challenging part of this craft is waiting 24 hours for the clay to dry before you can use them! I may or may not have developed an obsession with creating these cute little ghouls. You can even add flowers to some of the ghosts to give them an eerie, yet playful touch! To get started, gather your ghost, some Spanish moss, and a battery-operated puck light. I recommend using a puck light with a remote, so you can add spooky lighting without disturbing your cloche setup.
Place the puck light in the center of your cloche base and surround it with Spanish moss to add texture and conceal any exposed parts of the light. Position your DIY ghost directly on top of the light. The glow will shine mostly through your ghost’s eyes, creating a perfectly spooky effect! This glowing ghost display adds the ideal balance of eerie yet cute Halloween decor, bringing just the right amount of spooky chic to your space.
3. Spider Escape
For this creepy cloche idea, grab a bag of mini spiders (or cut the ring part off some spider rings from the Dollar Store!). Layer the spiders on your cloche plate or stand, creating a pile. When you put the glass dome on, make sure some spider legs are sticking out, giving the illusion that they’re crawling out! For added drama, scatter extra spiders around your table for a full spider escape scene.
