5 Easy Ways to Dress Up Your Home For Spring

Date

Signs of Spring are beginning to pop up all around our neighborhood, which makes me so excited to style my home for warmer weather! When I think of Spring décor, I think of light and airy elements with soft pops of color. You don’t have to break the bank transitioning your home from warm and cozy winter décor to a brighter, sunnier vibe. Here are some simple and inexpensive ways to freshen your space and welcome in the warmer months!

1. Swap out Pillows and Throws

One of my favorite tricks is to buy large pillow inserts and change the pillow covers every season. Storing covers instead of full pillows significantly saves on space, and covers are generally much cheaper than buying an entire pillow. I put together a list of some of my favorite covers, and here’s a link for my absolute favorite pillow inserts!

I am blown away by the quality of the covers I purchased for my family room! The velvet covers are so incredibly soft and buttery, and the woven fringe pillow looks like it should belong in a Serena and Lily collection (without the hefty price tag)!!! Everything is linked for you below the images! Note, for a 20×20 cover, you want to purchase a 22×22 or 24×24 down or down alternative insert for a fuller, more expensive look!

I also launder and put away all of our heavier blankets and throws at this time of year. I layer light weight options over our sofas and beds. Blankets and throws are a simple way to instantly make your home feel cozier regardless of the time of year! I picked up this gorgeous throw at Target this season from the Studio McGee collection. It is SO soft and cozy for Spring evenings.

2. Add House Plants and Fresh Flowers

While it is still too cold to begin planting outside, a great way to refresh your home is to add a few house plants or bring home a gorgeous bouquet of fresh flowers. House plants not only help to purify your air, but they cheer up your space! AND studies have shown house plants can improve your mood! Local nurseries are great places to find plants, but for more unique species, I love to use The Sill.

A bouquet of flowers adds a cheerful pop of color while we wait for mother nature to do her magic outside. And it just feels good treating myself to fresh flowers now and then!

3. Decorate With Glass & Metallic pieces

Glass décor items reflect and refract light to make a space feel instantly brighter. The same goes for metallic pieces. I love the sparkle they create with that gorgeous spring sunshine beaming through my windows.

Believe it or not, I found these adorable votives at the Dollar Tree! Check out your local thrift store for beautiful cut glass or other decorative glass items too! Also, be on the look out for pieces with beautiful shape, even if the color is wrong or it seems outdated.

I found this Easter bowl at my local Goodwill and gave it a few coats of flat white spray paint. Instant upgrade! My grandmother’s white ceramic rabbit planter now looks luxe with a coat of gold spray paint!

4. Try a DIY

You don’t have to be an artist to create a gorgeous piece of artwork with a simple DIY! And generally, making something yourself is significantly cheaper than buying it!

Often, I will refresh my home by changing out some of my framed art pieces. You can try my SUPER easy hot glue art here!

I almost always dress up my front porch with a new DIY wreath. This year’s gorgeous wooden ball floral wreath can be found here!

5. Refresh Your Front Porch

You can check off 2 boxes on my list if you make my DIY Spring wreath! Your front porch is the first impression guests have of your home. Why not invite them, and Spring, in with a little extra pop of color in a new rug or some accent pillows? I love the layered look of a small outdoor rug and my doormat! I used my new wreath as the inspiration for the color palette on my front porch.

I am obsessed with these teal pillows from Walmart. Wait until you see their price! They are so well made and a STEAL! Just like my sofa pillows, I bought new outdoor covers for my already existing pillows which saved me a ton of money!

There are a few things I’d love to do to update our front porch, such as tile or paint the concrete slab and replace the corner column, but even with an outdated front porch, adding in some fresh décor makes the space look more inviting! You can shop the look below!
